From Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 June, this year’s Royal Highland Show promises another unforgettable four-day celebration of Scottish food, farming, livestock, countryside culture and family entertainment at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh.
Whether you’re travelling from Edinburgh’s city centre, the west end, or surrounding areas, Lothian’s frequent and reliable bus network offers one of the easiest ways to reach the showground. With regular services stopping close to the venue, visitors can avoid the hassle of parking and enjoy a more convenient, affordable and sustainable way to travel to one of Scotland’s biggest annual events.
Getting to the Show from Edinburgh
Travelling from Edinburgh city centre and Haymarket
Service 98: Edinburgh City Centre (George Street) – Haymarket Station – Royal Highland Show
With frequent departures from George Street – just a short walk from Waverley Station – and with stops at key locations such as Shandwick Place, Haymarket Station, Murrayfield, Edinburgh Zoo and Corstorphine, Lothian’s Service 98 is the most convenient way to get to the Royal Highland Show.
During busy periods, buses will depart up to every 5 minutes and will get you from Edinburgh city centre right to the Royal Highland Show in approximately 30 minutes.
The Service 98 also benefits from a dedicated bus-only access to the Showground, bypassing traffic in the Ingliston area for speedier journeys.

Service 98 departs from George Street (Assembly Rooms), and stops at Shandwick Place (stop SD), Haymarket (stop HH) then all stops along the A8 to Maybury.

Edinburgh Park Station – Edinburgh Gateway Station – Royal Highland Show
This service provides a convenient connection to Show attendees travelling by train from Glasgow and the west of Scotland at Edinburgh Park Station, and from Fife, Dundee and the Highlands at Edinburgh Gateway Station.
Buses operate frequently and drop you off right outside the Royal Highland Centre at the East Gate.

Lothian’s Service 17 operates from Ocean Terminal to Edinburgh Airport via Newhaven, Granton, Muirhouse, Blackhall, Clermiston and DrumBrae. Alight at Airport Hotels and follow the Yellow walking route to the East Entrance. Buses operate up to every 30 minutes.

Lothian Country’s Service X18 operates direct from Whitburn, Armadale, Bathgate, Uphall, Broxburn to A8 (Ingliston Road) with buses running up to every 30 minutes.
Lothian Country X19 – Winchburgh
Lothian Country Service X19 operates direct from Winchburgh to A8 (Ingliston Road) with buses up to every 30 minutes.
Train
ScotRail service from railway stations across West Lothian to either Edinburgh Park Station where you can connect with Lothian’s Service 97 or Haymarket Station where you can connect with Lothian’s Service 98.
Travelling from elsewhere in Scotland
Long Distance Coaches
Citylink, Megabus, Ember and Flixbus operate regular services from across the UK to Edinburgh Bus Station in the city centre. From there check travel information from Edinburgh City Centre: Service 98 or Edinburgh Trams.
Some Ember and Flixbus services also call at Ingliston Park & Ride. A shuttle bus is available from Ingliston Park & Ride, or you can follow the green walking route to the South Entrance.
Train
Long distance trains call at Edinburgh Waverley Station. For onward travel to the Royal Highland Show, hop on either Service 98 (alight at George Street) or Edinburgh Trams (alight on Princes Street).
Some trains from the Highlands also call at Edinburgh Gateway Station. For connections to the Royal Highland Show, travel with Lothian’s Service 97 or take Edinburgh Trams.
