Lothian, in partnership with Places for People, Police Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council, has been working with local schools and young people on an exciting initiative focused on creating safer, more inclusive communities across Edinburgh.
Through a creative artwork challenge, participants were encouraged to explore themes including safety, kindness, respect, inclusion, making positive choices and looking out for one another.
The challenge provided young people with an opportunity to share their ideas and perspectives, while highlighting the positive role they can play in shaping their communities.
Selected artwork has now been brought to life as a mosaic wrap on a Lothian double decker bus, creating a moving platform for young people to share their messages with people across the city.
The project brings together Lothian, Places for People, Police Scotland, The City of Edinburgh Council, local schools and young people, demonstrating what can be achieved when organisations and communities work together towards a shared goal.
By taking young people’s ideas beyond the classroom and onto the streets of Edinburgh, the initiative celebrates youth voice and creativity while promoting an important message about building safer, kinder and more supportive communities.

The completed bus was formally unveiled at a special event attended by participating schools and project partners.
The event celebrated the young people involved and recognised the creativity, thought and positive messages behind their designs – giving them the opportunity to see their ideas brought to life to be shared with the wider Edinburgh community.
