Following our service change in February, our teams have been reviewing travel patterns throughout the spring and summer as part of a wider programme to improve connectivity and reliability across our network.
With additional driver resources scheduled to be recruited by this date, we intend to introduce a service change from Sunday 13 September on Lothian Buses, NightBuses, East Coast Buses and Lothian Country.
Key changes in this update include:
- Increased frequency on Service 7 to every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday daytime. This will provide additional capacity between Leith Walk and the south side of the city, and creates additional connection opportunities between Midlothian services at Kaimes Crossroads and Gilmerton Crossroads to and from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
- The introduction of a new Service 28 between Gilmerton and Bellevue via Gilmerton Station Road, Lasswade Road, Mayfield Road, Surgeons’ Hall, North Bridge, Leith Street. This service will operate every 30 minutes on Monday to Friday and on Saturday, and will be part funded by SEStran, secured by The City of Edinburgh Council.
- The extension of Service 32 from Cramond to West Granton via Cramond Road South, Ferry Road and Pennywell Road following an increase in financial support from City of Edinburgh Council.
- The introduction of a new 37A in the early morning between Penicuik and the Royal Infirmary, with a corresponding return journey in the evening, part funded by SEStran, secured by Midlothian Council.
- The introduction of a new Service 39A in the early morning and evening between Rosewell and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, with a corresponding return journey in the evening, part funded by SEStran, secured by Midlothian Council.
Full details of the service change, including timetables and route maps, can be found below, including a summary of the improvements being made in Rosewell/Bonnyrigg.
