Pupils learn about road safety at Young Drivers event

Last week, Lothian took part in the Edinburgh Young Drivers event at the O2 Academy (Corn Exchange), promoting safe driving and road awareness to sixth year pupils from schools across Edinburgh.

The event – which Lothian has attended for several years – brings together school pupils from across the city with partners including Police Scotland who delivered a hard-hitting presentation showing the consequences of dangerous driving on our roads.

To learn more about the challenges our bus drivers face on the roads, our Training School team and central driver Naomi Dunn gave pupils the opportunity to see what it’s like behind the wheel of a bus including highlighting the blind spots on our vehicles.

Those in attendance were also given the chance to have a go on our bus simulator, which proved to be very popular throughout the week.

The pupils engaged positively with our team and gained a further appreciation for our driving teams.

We are delighted to continue to work with our key partners to promote road safety and encourage safer streets for everyone in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
