Earlier this week Lothian’s own John O’Hara was awarded the Silver Award in the Top National Bus Driver category at this year’s UK Bus Awards.
Hosted at Troxy London on Tuesday 26 November, the annual awards recognise and reward the inspirational businesses and individuals at the heart of the bus industry across the UK.
Lothian driver, John O’Hara, was recognised for his exemplary record which spans an impressive 17 years with the business. Earlier this year he was awarded third place at Lothian’s Driver of the Year competition and went on to represent the company in the national finals in September.
Willie Hamilton, Operations Director, said: “John is an outstanding member of the driving team at Longstone, and we are proud that he’s been recognised with the Silver Award in the Top National Bus Driver Award category.
“With around 60 000 bus drivers working throughout the industry in the UK this really is an incredible achievement”.
“This award is a testament to his professionalism, driving skill and exceptional customer service”
Lothian also picked up a Bronze Award for City Operator and a Highly Commended award in the Recruitment and Retention category for our multi-disciplinary approach to driver recruitment. The recruitment drive included an extensive advertising campaign across multiple platforms, and the hiring of an Apprentice and Training Manager to provide additional support to those taking their first step on the career ladder.
