Lothian buses, Edinburgh’s main transport provider, has opened applications for a new Charity of Choice for 2025 and 2026.

Following a successful charity partnership with VOCAL – Voice of Carers across the Lothians – the company is on the look-out for a new local charity to work with over the next two years.

Lothian has always been a committed partner to many charities and causes in their operating area, including Guide Dogs Scotland, Whizz Kids, MacMillan Cancer Support and The Yard.

Gaynor Marshall, Communications Director for Lothian, said: “We are delighted to announce that the application process to find Lothian’s next Charity of Choice opens today.

“As one of the biggest employers in the region, and the main transport operator in the capital city, Lothian is committed to being a part of the communities we serve.

“Our work with VOCAL has enabled us to raise awareness of the support available to unpaid carers and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the team at VOCAL for their professionalism, support and commitment throughout our Charity of Choice partnership.”

Andrew Warburton, Partnership and Business Manager at VOCAL, said: “We are honoured to have been Lothian’s Charity of Choice and are grateful for their support and commitment to unpaid carers over the past two years.

“Our partnership has not only provided VOCAL with vital funding, but also helped raise awareness and recognition of unpaid caring across the Lothians in a new and exciting way.

“We would encourage charities to apply, and we look forward to seeing another organisation benefit from Lothian’s support!”

Charities can apply to become Lothian’s Charity of Choice by completing the online application form by Sunday 28 July.

All applicants must demonstrate how the partnership would benefit service users in Lothian’s operating area.
