Lothian’s Bus 2020 Strategy LaunchSunday 3 February

Next Sunday, 3 February, we will be launching our Bus 2020 strategy on George Street.

The Bus 2020 strategy is our commitment to operating only buses which meet a minimum vehicle standard of Euro 5 or above by the end of 2020.  Central to this strategy is our vision to meet the Scottish Government’s target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 42%.

Our 2020 Vehicle Plan sets out the investment required for the purchase and disposal of vehicles in order to achieve this.

The launch, which will take place on west side of George Street, will highlight how one bus load of customers could potentially remove over 100 cars from our roads.

To help us with this, we have invited 100 cars owners to bring their vehicles along to give everyone a visual representation of how many cars could be taken off the road if these car owners travelled in one of our new Alexander Dennis Enviro400XLB buses instead.

These new buses can carry 100 sitting customers and 29 standing.

The event starts at 1200 and will include talks from Richard Hall, our Managing Director and Nick Page, Managing Director of Volvo Bus UK & Ireland.

We have also partnered with some city centre local businesses to offer you some great discounts and giveaways including:

  • Essential Edinburgh
  • Henderson’s
  • Neal’s Yard Remedies
  • Jamie’s Italian
  • TISO
  • The Principle George Street

As a business, we are committed providing a sustainable transport service by reducing emissions and improving air quality in its operational environment.

We hope to see you all there.
