April is here, the clocks have changed and it’s the Easter Holidays.  If you’re looking for some ideas to get out and about this month, here’s our top five.

1. Learn about your City

Summer season has started at Edinburgh Bus Tours and its 3 Bridges Tour is back! There is also new Horrible History commentary on the City Sightseeing tour recorded by the author himself – Terry Deary!  Your kids will love his fantastic stories of old Edinburgh.

2. See some Dinosuars

Jurassic Kingdom takes place at Lauriston Castle from 30 March – 15 April and is a spectacular outdoor dinosaur experience with over 30 animated dinosaurs with moving arms, tails, heads, eyes blinking and mouth – they also roar! Take your family along for a HUGE day out.

3. Go see a Show

Following eight record breaking years in London’s West End, the National Theatre’s acclaimed play War Horse returns to the Festival Theatre Edinburgh from 16 April – 12 May.

Based on the Michael Morpurgo novel, War Horse is an unforgettable show with a fantastic story and amazing life-sized animatronic horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to life on stage. Look out for our ticket competition coming soon!

4: Watch a game of Rubgy

The 6 Nations may be over but Edinburgh Rugby have two big games at BT Murrayfield this month with the team taking on Ulster on 6 April and the Scarlets on 14 April. Ticketsare still available.

5: Take a walk along the Union Canal

The Union Canal starts at Edinburgh Quay in Fountainbridge and runs for 32 miles to the Falkirk Wheel.  Full of wildlife, boats and scenic views, it’s great for a walk, taking photos or letting your children burn off some energy.
Start your journey at Fountainbridge and see how far you can go.  You can always stop and get a bus home from Polwarth, Slateford, Wester Hailes or Ratho.
