The people you’ll meet in this series are just some of the individuals who together form Team Lothian, and make our company what it is. We Are Lothian.

Meet Sarah

Name: Sarah Chambers

Job Title: Finance Manager

Describe your role at Lothian in one sentence.
Custodian of the finances – I manage and oversee all the financial transactions and manage the Finance department.

How long have you worked for Lothian?
19 years in total – starting in the TravelHubs for 10 years, then the last 9 years in the Finance department.

“[Lothian] gave me the opportunity to progress my career, and for that I will be forever grateful.”

Favourite part of your job?
It has to be problem solving. A lot of the work my team and I do is reconciling transactions but sometimes this isn’t an easy task.

Most memorable moment?
Meeting Gavin Hastings!  Many years ago, Lothian hosted an ALBUM conference and Gavin Hastings was guest speaker.

The last year has been difficult for everyone due to the ongoing pandemic. What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had in your current role at Lothian?
Everything happening at once was quite challenging. As a department we have to communicate with each other on a daily basis and suddenly we were working from home and having to find new ways of working, while at the same time trying to get our heads round what was happening in the outside world. We have certainly become more resilient!

What’s a common misconception about your job?
Apparently, accountants are ‘boring’!

Finally, what does working for Lothian mean to you?
I have spent more than half of my life in Lothian!  It is like a comfort blanket but it is also the place that gave me the opportunity to progress my career, and for that I will be forever grateful.
