Car Free Day 2019Sunday 22 September

This Sunday, 22 September 2019, is World Car Free Day.

World Car-Free Day is an international event celebrated every year, in almost 50 countries, encouraging people to get around without their cars and instead use public transport, cycle or walk.

Making small changes to the way you travel to work, meet friends or head to the shops can make a big difference to you health, your local enivronment and to your pocket.

Why not make the bus part of your plans this Sunday and discover a new area or just a new way to move around the City.

Did you know…

  • Commuting by public transport, walking or cycling is proven to be beneficial not just for the environment but also for physical and mental health.
  • Walking to your bus stop is a great way to introduce exercise into daily life and help you reach those 10,000 steps.
  • Leaving the car can help build communities. By taking the bus you increase the changes of meeting your neighbours and catching up with friends along the way.
  • It’s good for the environment. If everyone switched from car to bus for just one journey a month, it would mean one billion fewer car journeys on the roads and would save 2 million tonnes of CO2 every year.

Let bus be part of your plans this weekend.
