Lothian host Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce membersPartners enjoy behind-the-scenes look at Lothian operations

Lothian were delighted to welcome members of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce to Central in Annandale Street today (Friday 2 April) to learn more about the business, take a look behind the scenes of the busy garage, and find out what the future holds for the award-winning operator.

Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce comprises an extensive network of partners from a range of influential and aspirational organisations across Scotland. As a partner, Lothian and other organisations who want to work together, are able to achieve strategic goals, increase their reach and influence in the business community, and have a say in shaping the future of Scotland’s capital.

Members were welcomed to Central by Gaynor Marshall, Communications Director at Lothian, and were given insights into the business from Lothian’s Head of Operations, Willie Hamilton, and Chief Engineer, Dylan Dastey. Afterwards, the delegates were given a guided tour behind the scenes of day-to-day operations at Lothian. This included stops at our Control Room – which is a hive of activity, with colleagues providing direct support to hundreds of bus drivers and support vehicles – and our engineering department to see the routine maintenance.

Our visitors also had the chance to get a closer look at the inner workings of one of our brand new fully-electric double deck buses, examining the batteries and charging point infrastructure.

Gaynor Marshall, Communications Director at Lothian, said: “It was our pleasure to host members of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce at our head office and garage in the city centre today. The opportunity to meet with members face-to-face after a challenging two years was very welcome, and we were delighted to be able to showcase what we as an operator – and our people – have achieved in spite of numerous challenges.

“As we enter into this recovery period, our focus is very much on continuing to deliver for our customers, providing a world-class service for everyone who resides in or visits Edinburgh and the Lothians.”
