Our Bus Driver of the Year 2023 took place yesterday (Thursday 25 May) at the Royal Highland Centre, with 17 drivers from across the Lothian group being put through their paces.
The annual competition allows drivers from across the Lothian group to test their skills through a variety of challenges which include a theory test, obstacle course and road drive.
The sun shone on what was a brilliant opportunity for participants to catch up with colleagues based at different garages, and enjoy a delicious lunch provided by Lothian’s catering team.
The results from the competition are as follows:
EastCoastbuses (Overall Winner) | Thomas Gilhooley |
Edinburgh Bus Tours (Overall Winner) | Flavio Amaral |
Lothian Country (Overall Winner) | Corin Morse |
Lothian (Overall Winner) | John O’Hara |
Garage of the Year | East Coast Buses |

Sincere thanks go to everyone involved in making the day such a success, to our stakeholders for coming along and in some instances trying their hand at the course themselves. Team Lothian wish our finalists the very best of luck for the UK-wide competition.
