At Lothian, we play a vital role in helping you travel around the region.
We make it easier for you to get to work, go to the gym, enjoy a night out with friends or make that essential train or flight connection. Thousands of people use our bus services regularly – they’re an important part of everyday life in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
We connect the region with over 70 services and more than 700 buses which run day and night throughout the year. Our easy-access fleet is among the most modern and environmentally-friendly in the UK and now includes the city’s first zero-emission electric buses. We are also an award winning transport operator and continue to invest in technology and people to make sure our bus services meet your needs now and in the future.
We are the UK’s largest municipal bus company and proudly owned by the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Mid Lothian and West Lothian councils. We’ve been based in the city for almost 100 years and are now one of the region’s largest employers with over 2,500 staff, 1,700 of whom are drivers. Many of our employees are from Edinburgh and the Lothians or have made the region their home and we remain a company that’s an integral part of the local community.
Lothian are proud to work in partnership with many other transport providers across Scotland providing vital links and connections for onward travel. We share our ticketing and connectivity platforms with Edinburgh Trams which allows customers to make cost effective integrated journeys across our city in conjunction with Transport for Edinburgh.
