Coach Driver of the Year 2026

Lothian’s annual Coach Driver of the Year competition was held on Thursday 19 February at our Longstone depot where drivers from Eve Coaches and Lothian Motorcoaches came together to showcase their expertise behind the wheel.

The standard of driving on display was outstanding, with only a few marks separating the finalists after a series of practical and theory assessments.

After careful consideration, David Ross was named Eve Coaches Driver of the Year, delivering an exceptional performance across all elements of the competition.

Brian Shankland claimed the Lothian Motorcoaches Driver of the Year title following an impressive showing in both the practical and theory tests.

David Cameron, Lothian’s Head of Operations, said: “Our Coach Driver of the Year competition showcases the exceptional professionalism and driving expertise of our teams at Eve Coaches and Lothian Motorcoaches.

“Day in, day out, our drivers deliver outstanding service for their customers, and this event provides a fantastic platform to demonstrate their technical skills and commitment to excellence, reflected in the consistently high scores achieved across the board.

“Congratulations to our winners, David Ross and Brian Shankland. I have no doubt they will go on to represent us with pride at the UK Coach Rally in Blackpool in April.”
