On-Street Departure Signs

The City of Edinburgh Council own and operate all digital On-Street Departure signs at bus stops across the city.

Every operator providing bus services in the Edinburgh area is eligible to provide departure information to the on-street departure signs at The City of Edinburgh Council’s discretion. Each operator assumes responsibility for the accuracy and quality of the information shown.

Lothian provide departure information for its services including Lothian Buses, Lothian Country, East Coast Buses, Airlink and Night Buses routes.

The information from Lothian is provided in real time and as timetabled departures. Journey disruption information is being rolled out to the on-street signs.

Lothian can now provide real time disruption information to the on-street departure signs.

There are many types of planned or unplanned disruptions which may affect a journey. Depending on the circumstances, the following information will be displayed (see menus below).

If you have any issues or questions relating to your journey, please speak with your driver who will be able to provide further details.

Please note that the City of Edinburgh Council system provides a 60-minute look ahead for real time journeys. Journeys due to depart beyond the 60-minute time horizon will be shown as timetabled departures.

Such issues could be no power, a blank display with no departures or only showing timetabled information for all journeys.
