2018 is the Year of Young People in Scotland. Throughout the year, the compaign aims to inspire young people, celebrating their achievements, value their contribution to communities and create new opportunities for them to shine locally, nationally and globally.
Our young workforce are the future of our company. Engineers, bus drivers, office staff and schedulers all play an important part in making our business work today and tomorrow.
We want to celebrate them, their thoughts and their ideas with you.
Over the coming months we’ll let you meet them and learn more about their plans.
First up is Fiona Thomson (25), our Trainee Accountant.
What’s favourite thing about growing up in Scotland?
Lots of history and culture. Your never more than 10ft from something beautiful.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
Being appointed in my role as trainee accountant at Lothian Buses.
Where would you like to see yourself in the future?
Being happy successful.
Which young Scot inspires you?
Greg Laidlaw – He’s a strong leader and a team player even through defeat.
Why did you pick Lothian?
From my first day in Edinburgh Lothian have always been there. Starting at University getting a Service 25 bus to and from town, to looking for a job and coming across a vacancy at Edinburgh Bus Tours where I became part of a family. When an opportunity came to join the Lothian finance team I was keen to apply. Here my interest for the buses was only increased. Last year I took up the role are Trainee Accountant and look forward to the future with the company.
Thanks Fiona.
