Lothian Buses has taken delivery of a Nissan eNV-200 fully electric van.
This vehicle is being run on a trial basis, as part of the company’s ongoing strategy to minimise the environmental impact of our business operations. If this is a success, we expect electric vehicles to play a major role in our ancillary fleet, substantially cutting emissions in Edinburgh City Centre.
This electric van will be used by our mail man Bill, to take deliveries, mail and notices to and from all our depots, Travelshops and P&R sites across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
It has been vinyled with our ‘We think the world of Edinburgh’ environmental branding and has an eye catching ‘zero emissions’ design on both sides.
The electric van is an environmentally friendly option for our internal mail service, bringing CO2 down to zero at the point of use. It will remove almost 4 tonnes of CO2 from our annual carbon footprint and make a huge saving in fuel costs.
Emma Roy, Environmental Officer says:
We are delighted to take delivery of this full electric van and convert our internal mail operation to zero emission running. It is an ideal way for us to operate throughout the City and suburbs whilst minimising our impact on the local environment.
