The last Harlequin

Lothian Buses ‘Harlequin Day’ on Saturday 30 January showcased the company’s last remaining harlequin buses in service.

After this date, these buses were to be updated to the company’s current livery.

The harlequin bus design was introduced in 1999 initially to represent that the bus was a low floor, easy access model.  This phasing out of this livery started in 2010 when the current madder and white design was introduced.

The last remaining ‘harlequin’ bus, a Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident with the fleet number 628, has now been painted into the company’s current livery.

The bus, which operates from the company’s Longstone depot can now be seen with it’s new look on the street of Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Look out for it on your travels.
