Backshift Chef

Your role

Lothian are the principal transport provider in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas of Midlothian and East Lothian. We have an opportunity at our busy Central Garage location for a reliable backshift chef working 35 hours per week.

Our Chefs are hardworking individuals who can work on their own initiative and are key players in our kitchen teams. You will be required to work 5 days a week (Monday – Friday) starting at 2pm and finishing at 9pm.

Chef Responsibilities

  • The preparation, cooking and service of our menu.
  • Ensuring we are adhering to all food hygiene regulations
  • You will also ensure that the kitchen is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

Chef Requirements

  • Previous experience in cooking a full range of meals in a high volume but high quality
  • Previous experience working in a busy environment
  • Experience in stock control and ordering
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • Highest standard of quality control
  • Health and safety training and a willingness to train assistant staff

Catering Assistant

Your role

Lothian are the principal transport provider in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas of Midlothian and East Lothian.

We have an exciting opportunity at our Longstone Garage for a Catering Assistant working 35 hours per week with requirement to work shifts and Saturdays.

Working as part of a team in our busy kitchen your daily tasks will mainly consist of general kitchen duties including:

  • Cleaning
  • Stock Rotation Filling Up
  • Serving food
  • Vending
  • Cash handling

Catering Assistant Requirements

  • Experience is not essential as full training will be given

Part Time General Assistant

We are currently looking for a General Assistant to join our Engineering team, based in the Musselburgh depot this is a Part Time Permanent Vacancy. Hours of work are 5am to 10am, 5 days over 7.

General Assistant Responsibilities

  • Keeping Depot Clean and Tidy
  • Assisting Supervisors and Managers with ad-hoc duties as required
  • Maintain and Develop Technical Skills as and when required
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues
  • All other General Housekeeping Duties

  • You must possess a full Valid UK Driving License
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under minimal instruction in order to fulfil duties as required

Senior Payroll Officer

Lothian Buses are the main bus provider in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas of Midlothian and East Lothian.  We are currently looking for a senior payroll officer to join our busy team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to take a step up to supervisory level or enhance their career in a similar role.  The role of the Senior Payroll Officer is to ensure that the company pays employees accurately and on time, compiling payroll information by managing payroll preparation; completing reports and maintaining records required for internal and external use.  This will be achieved by supervising a professional, pro-active, responsive and effective payroll function.

Senior Payroll Officer Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for the production of all designated payrolls within timescales
  • Adherence to compliance of internal policies and procedures
  • Adherence to payments, deductions and statutory declarations both legislative and contractual within timescales
  • Maintain actions to ensure fully up to date with legislative changes and potential impact on current systems / process
  • Supervise a team of 4 & deputise for the Payroll Manager when required
Senior Payroll Officer Requirements
  • CIPP Membership
  • All around payroll knowledge adhering to strict deadlines in a medium to large, fast moving commercial organisation
  • Experience of pension schemes administration
  • Experience of reviewing and developing payroll processes, reflecting best practice and legislative change
  • A strong team player, able to build solid working relationships at all levels
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written

Mechanics

Your role

Lothian Buses are the main bus provider in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas of Midlothian and East Lothian.  We are currently looking for two Mechanics to join our Engineering team, one working a backshift Mon-Fri 1730 – 0100 37.5 Hrs and one working 4-shifts per week, 37 hrs rotating shift pattern working early and late.

Mechanic Responsibilities
  • To diagnose and carry out MOT preps, general vehicle repairs, servicing and parts replacement in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Vehicle fault diagnostics and repair including welding and repaint where necessary
  • To fully comply with all HS&E legislation along with Internal policies
  • Maintain and develop technical skills as required
  • Any duty deemed reasonable by the Engineering Manager and supervisors.
Mechanic Requirements
  • You must possess a full UK Driving License
  • Time Served Motor Vehicle Mechanic
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • An aptitude to develop others within the engineering team to improve efficiency
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors
  • A PCV license is desirable, ability to obtain PCV license is essential

Trainee Bus Drivers
