How do I use a Ridacard?
 
Place your card on the reader tray photo side up   Green and amber lights plus "beep"
 
Expiry date displayed   Remove card and take your seat

 

Young Student Ridacards are available to passengers aged between 16 and 25 in full time education. Proof of age and scholar or student status (eg matriculation card) are required at time of purchase and renewal.

Junior Ridacards for passengers aged between 5 and 15. Proof of age is required at time of purchase.

‡ your £50 initial payment is used to pay for travel between issue of your Ridacard and your first Direct Debit payment being made. To obtain a refund of money paid but not required to pay for travel, the card must be returned to Lothian Buses when your Direct Debit is cancelled.

Replacement Ridacards

What if I lose my Ridacard ? Within four working days of your reporting that your Ridacard is lost, we will produce a replacement with the same expiry date. The charge is £3 and you will be responsible for any fares paid until your replacement Ridacard can be provided.

What if my Ridacard is damaged ? Where a Ridacard stops working because it has been damaged, within four working days of that damaged Ridacard being handed to us, we will produce a replacement with the same expiry date. The damage will be pointed out to you. The charge is £3 and you will be responsible for any fares paid until your replacement Ridacard can be provided.

What if my Ridacard fails ? Where an undamaged Ridacard fails to work, we will issue a replacement Ridacard free of charge and give you extra time to compensate for any inconvenience you may have experience.
